The American Car Nationals is a static display of American Classic Cars of yesteryear. The event is held annually at the Queanbeyan Showground on the last Sunday in September. The origin of the American Car Nationals goes back to 1991 when a group of enterprising members of the American Car Club of Australia Inc. had the vision of an annual event where enthusiasts of American cars could meet to discuss their hobby and display their dream machines. In subsequent years the numbers have grown to more than 260 superbly presented American vehicles in 40 judging categories and Canberra Chrysler Day is now a regular and important feature of the Nationals, to include Australian Chryslers. The American Car Club of Australia Inc. has close links with the Shannon's Insurance Group who will again be the major sponsor of the event. Local businesses in the ACT and Queanbeyan have also been most supportive.

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It is the UK's largest and most populous metropolitan area and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures.

A major settlement for two millennia, its history goes back to its founding by the Romans, who called it Londinium.
London's core, the ancient City of London, the 'square mile', retains its mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the nineteenth century, the name "London" has also referred to the metropolis developed around it.
Today, the bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, with its own elected mayor and assembly.

London Stansted Airport is a passenger airport located at Stansted Mountfitchet in the local government district of Uttlesford in Essex, 48 km north-east of central London. It is 2.5 NM north northeast of Bishop's Stortford and about 6 mi outside Harlow.

Stansted is a hub for a number of major European low-cost carriers.
It is the third-busiest airport in the United Kingdom and the third-largest airport serving the London area after Heathrow and Gatwick; it is one of London's five international airports, along with Luton and London City.

The airport is owned and operated by BAA, which also owns and operates five other UK airports, and is itself owned by ADI Limited, an international consortium, which includes Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and GIC Special Investments, that is led by the Spanish Ferrovial Group. However in March 2009, the UK Competition Commission ruled that BAA must sell Stansted within two years.

City

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It is the UK's largest and most populous metropolitan area and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures.

A major settlement for two millennia, its history goes back to its founding by the Romans, who called it Londinium. London's core, the ancient City of London, the 'square mile', retains its mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the nineteenth century, the name "London" has also referred to the metropolis developed around it.
Today, the bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, with its own elected mayor and assembly.

Airport

London Heathrow Airport or Heathrow located in the London Borough of Hillingdon, is the world's busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic. It is the world's second busiest airport in total passenger traffic and the United Kingdom's largest and busiest airport.
It is also the busiest in the European Union in terms of passenger traffic and the second busiest in terms of traffic movements.
The airport is owned and operated by BAA, which also owns and operates five other UK airports, and is itself owned by ADI Limited, an international consortium, which includes Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and GIC Special Investments, that is led by the Spanish Ferrovial Group.
Heathrow is the primary hub for BMI, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Located 12 nautical miles west of Central London, Heathrow was designed to have six runways in three pairs but now has two parallel main runways running east-west and five operational terminals.
The site covers 12.14 square kilometres. Terminal 5 was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 14 March 2008 and opened to passengers on 27 March 2008. Construction of a new Terminal 2 complex to replace the terminal building and adjacent Queen's Building began in 2009; the first phase is expected to open in 2014.
Beginning in 2007 and completing in 2009, Terminals 3 and 4 have undergone major refurbishments. In November 2007 a consultation process began for the building of a new third runway and was controversially approved on 15 January 2009 by UK Government ministers.

Heathrow Airport has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction.

Airport

London Gatwick Airport is London's second largest international airport and second busiest by total passenger traffic in the United Kingdom after Heathrow.
In 2008, it ranked as the world's 28th-busiest airport in terms of passenger numbers, 9th busiest in terms of international passengers and 8th largest in Europe by passenger traffic.

It has the world's busiest single-use runway and is Europe's leading airport for point-to-point flights. Gatwick is located 5 km north of the centre of Crawley, West Sussex, and 45.7 km south of London.

Passenger numbers peaked in 2007 when the airport handled over 35 million passengers for the first time. However, this total reduced by 2.9% in 2008 with 34,205,887 passengers using Gatwick.
Of these, 26.4 million used scheduled flights and 7.8 million non-scheduled services. The airport recorded 263,653 aircraft movements during that period.
